Matilde Montoya was the first Mexican woman who became a doctor making history and changing forever the course of medicine in Mexico. On August 24th 1887 she presented her professional examination in presence of the Mexican elite, physicians, journalists and the President of Mexico at that time, Porfirio Díaz.
